THE VISION: Learning to See Before You Create
In traditional photography, you don’t just point and shoot. You observe light, you frame a subject, you wait for the moment. In AI photography, you must do this mentally before you begin.
The 6 Questions of Photographic Vision
Before opening your AI generator, answer these six questions. Write them down. This is your Creative Brief:
What is the story? (Not just “a woman, ” but “a woman waiting for a train in 1940s Paris”)
What should the viewer feel? (Melancholy? Joy? Tension? Peace?)
Who is the subject? (Age, expression, posture, emotional presence)
Where are they? (Environment, weather, time of day, architecture)
What is the visual mood? (Cinematic? Editorial? Fine art? Documentary?)
What makes this photographic? (Lens choice, lighting direction, film grain, depth of field)
Why This Matters
When you skip this step, AI gives you a generic result. When you complete this step, AI becomes your collaborator.
